Medicare Part D: WTF is up with 2022 premiums?

I know that those gawd-awful Republicans, and apparently some Dems, too, are balking at doing what EVERY OTHER CIVILIZED NATION ON THIS PLANET is doing and refusing to negotiate a good deal on drug prices for their constituents.

The CMS — the federal government’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services— predicted that average premiums for next year’s Medicare drug plans (that’s “Part D”, for those of you scoring at home) would rise by an average of about 5%.  That was at the end of July.

Did the world suddenly stop rotating on its axis since then?

We just got our Annual Notice of Change (“ANOC”) for our 2022 Part D plans.  I just about choked on the new premium.  It’s up over 150% from this year.  Sheeeeezzz!

My sister-in-law in another state, with a different plan through a different company, got gobsmacked by her ANOC, too — her premiums will also go up over 150%, unless she finds some reasonable alternative.

So while half or more of Congress — need I say which half? — are preparing to YET AGAIN bow to the demands of their BigPharma corporate overlords (and their cologne-drenched lobbyists), we end up getting the shaft yet again.

So — hey, if you would — let the rest of us know what missives of seasonal joy you’ve received lately from your Part D provider.  Take our poll below, and leave us a comment.

I don’t think my experience is unique — but who knows?
