Ahh- the gentle caress of the "free market's" invisible hand [oh-and paying 3x more for your meds]

Just one more case of socialization for the free loaders at the top of the chain and vulture capitalism for the rest of us- A study by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Sch of Public Health comparing how other countries set drug prices, found that "If the Medicare program used the same prices as these other countries, the estimated savings to Medicare Part D would have been almost $73 billion in 2018 alone,"

www.sciencedaily.com/...

Looks like a pretty robust study that tried to  select “the countries of comparison based on their similar per capita incomes, large pharmaceutical markets and their unique price-setting approaches” which were: Japan, the United Kingdom and the Canadian province of Ontario-

likely zero surprise to any diabetics out there: “ Diabetes medications had the largest average price differential, 9 times more expensive in the U.S. than the same drug in the U.K. Injectable drugs were 11.5 times more expensive in the U.S. as compared to the U.K. and around 8 times higher than Japan and Ontario.”

But heh- lets ignore “that In one scenario using external reference pricing, the researchers found that if the U.S. purchased the same drugs at the U.K. pre-rebate price, Medicare spending would have been reduced by more than 70 percent in 2018”

Its MUCH more important to continue to gouge and punish those who were too darned lazy to rise to the top of the food chain, continue to enrich the drug czardoms …. and then announce how we just can’t afford all these gol danged entitlements…...
